Christmas gifts for dogs and cats, from our Angaston shop
Stocking fillers, cosy beds, keepsakes for the pet lover, and the Christmas foods to keep off the floor.
The best Christmas gifts for dogs and cats are things they’ll actually use: a toy that suits how they play, a bag of natural treats for the stocking, a comfortable bed, or an enrichment toy that keeps them busy while the family opens presents. For the pet lover on your list, a paw or nose print keepsake kit, a bandana or an ID tag makes a thoughtful gift. Everything below is on the shelves at our shop in Angaston, and we’re happy to order in anything we don’t have.
Start with how your pet likes to spend the day
The gift that gets used is the one that matches your pet. A dog that chases everything will love something to fetch. A dog that settles in for a long chew wants something to work on. A cat that hunts the hallway at night wants something to stalk, and a cat that sleeps all afternoon might enjoy a new spot to curl up. Have a think about which one you’re buying for before you start, and the choice gets much easier.
Toys for dogs who love to play
Our toy range covers fetch, tug, squeak and chew, from brands including Kong, Chuck it!, Tuffy, Outward Hound, Starmark, Kazoo and Company of Animals. Georgie Paws, Conscious Pet Co, Ruff Play and Hug Smart are on the wall too. If your dog is hard on toys, tell us when you come in and we’ll show you what we have.
Enrichment toys are a great Christmas Day gift, because they give your dog something to focus on while the house is busy. A LickiMat or a Kong with part of their usual food in it can keep a dog happily occupied for a while. Our guide to lick mats and enrichment ideas has easy ways to fill them.

Treats for the Christmas stocking
A bag of natural treats is the easiest stocking filler there is. Our single-protein, preservative-free treats include chicken, beef, turkey and duck jerky, kangaroo tails and tendons, and beef liver flakes, and they come in 500g and 1kg bulk bags. You can phone ahead to pre-order a 1kg bag, and you’ll find more on our treats and special orders page.
For something a bit more festive, we also stock Birthday Cookies & Freckles, Yoghurt & Carob Treats, Rosies Homemade Crackers and Freezy Paws for dogs. Cat owners can pick up Meow Freeze Dried treats or Inaba Churu Puree. Treats are best given in small amounts alongside your pet’s normal food, so a little goes a long way over the holidays.

Cosy gifts: beds and blankets
A new bed is a present your pet will use every single day. Our beds and blankets include calming, waterproof, indoor and outdoor, and orthopaedic styles from Snooza, Mini Jumbuk, Ezy Dog, Rover Australia, Kazoo and Indie Boho, and all of them are machine washable. For cats, the Tara Treasures felted cat cocoons and Cattitude beds make a snug hiding spot. If you’re not sure which style suits, our guide to choosing the best dog bed walks through the options.
Christmas presents for cats
Cats can be fussy, so go for things that match their natural habits. Our cat range includes Rienna Designs cat toys and Tara Treasures felted cat toys for stalking and batting, plus scratchers and towers from Kazoo, Allpet and Cattitude. A scratcher or tower gives a cat somewhere to climb, scratch and stretch, and the RSPCA notes that cats scratch to maintain their claws, mark territory and let off steam. That makes a scratching post one of the most useful presents you can give an indoor cat.
Gifts for the pet lover in your life
Some of the nicest gifts are for the people, not the pets. In our everyday finds you’ll find the Pablo & Co Paw and Nose Print Kits, which make a keepsake of your pet’s paw or nose print, along with bandanas, treat bag holders, seat belt restraints for the car and Red Dingo ID tags. We also stock seasonal and birthday gifts.

Keep the Christmas table off the menu
The festive season brings a lot of rich food into the house, and some of it is dangerous for pets. The RSPCA’s guide to what to feed your dog lists foods that are toxic to dogs, and several turn up at Christmas:
- Grapes, raisins, sultanas and currants, including in Christmas cake.
- Chocolate, coffee and caffeine products.
- Alcohol.
- Nuts, including macadamias.
- Onions, onion powder and garlic, which often turn up in stuffing and gravy.
The same guide says never to feed cooked bones or fatty trimmings and fatty foods, and to make sure your dog can’t get at the string wrapped around a rolled roast or the absorbent pad under meat on a tray. That makes ham fat, turkey and ham bones, and the leftovers in the kitchen bin worth keeping well out of reach. Ask visitors not to slip your pet anything from their plate, and pop a treat from the stocking in your pet’s bowl instead.

Common questions
What is a good Christmas present for a dog?
Something that matches how your dog likes to play: a fetch or tug toy for active dogs, a long-lasting chew or enrichment toy like a LickiMat or Kong for dogs that like to settle, a bag of natural treats for the stocking, or a new bed they will use every day.
What can I get my cat for Christmas?
Cats usually love toys they can stalk and bat, a scratching post or tower to climb and scratch, a cosy cocoon to sleep in, or a few special treats. We stock Rienna Designs and Tara Treasures cat toys, Kazoo, Allpet and Cattitude scratchers and towers, and Meow Freeze Dried and Inaba Churu treats.
Can dogs eat Christmas ham?
It is best not to share it. The RSPCA lists fatty trimmings and fatty foods, and cooked bones, as dangerous for dogs, so ham fat and ham bones from the Christmas table should be kept out of reach.
Can you order in a gift you do not have in stock?
Yes. You can order any product storewide. Call the shop or send an order enquiry and we will do our best to get it in for you.
